Wednesday 27th May 1942

My 20th Birthday. Don had ½ day & got tickets for "Happidrome". Very good show except for Hutch. Went out for a drink with Mum afterwards.

Friday 3rd April 1942

Don's 20th Birthday. Worked all day. Gave Don his ring. Went for a drink at Putney. Felt quite sleepy on one 1/2 pint & a cigarette.

Tuesday 17th February 1942

Hilda's 16th Birthday. Did not buy anything but gave her the money instead. Mum & dad took her to the Forum. Don came over in the pm.

Monday 8th December 1941

Dad's birthday. The coldest day we've had this year. We all went to Knightsbridge & had a drink with Don.

Wednesday 3rd December 1941

Fred's birthday. On fire watch in pm. Wynne received a letter from Ted. Heard that JB Hughes is missing.

Also on this day... Conscription in the United Kingdom now includes all men between 18 and 50. Women will serve in fire brigades and in women's auxiliary groups.

Tuesday 1st July 1941

Mum's birthday. Quite a nice day. Got her some roses. But it is so hot that they won't last.

Tuesday 27th May 1941

My 19th birthday. Freddie came through. Thinks my birthday tomorrow. Don came over. Went out with Mum & Dad for a drink.

In other news... The Bismarck was sunk by the British.

Monday 17th February 1941

Hilda's 15th birthday. Went to Hammersmith Palais. Hilda enjoyed it. She had couple of rivals after her. Air Raid warning.

Saturday 25th January 1941

Wynne’s birthday party. Enjoyed ourselves very much. Freddie & I stopped all night.

Sunday 19th January 1941

Wynne's 21st birthday. Stopped indoors all day. Played darts with Syd, Hilda & Dad in evening.
