Wednesday 17th June 1942

Hilda was supposed to meet Don's lad Harry, but he couldn't turn up. Don & I went for a walk & a drink.

Friday 12th June 1942

Don came over in the p.m. He's got to pay ½ as much Income Tax again. Played cards with Hilda.

Thursday 21st May 1942

Went to the New Vic & saw “The Died with their Boots On” & the “Night has Eyes”. Very good programme which Hilda and I enjoyed very much.

Sunday 17th May 1942

Went to the Park with Hilda & Eric. Met Don over there. He'd got his bike out. Went to Mitcham in the afternoon but as it was so dull did not go out.

Monday 11th May 1942

Don starts work again today. Fred rang me first thing this morning. Don came over from work. Stopped in & helped Hilda do her homework.

Friday 8th May 1942

Don came over in the p.m. Hilda Don & I went out for a spree. Went to the Sussex, then Daly’s then to the new pub we found. Had a lovely time.

Monday 27th April 1942

Don came over in the evening. Went for a walk. Usual Mondayish feeling. Worked late. Hilda came on the walk with us.

Thursday 23rd April 1942

Left work at 4pm. Mum Hilda & I went to the Gaumont. Saw "Hot Spot", but not so good as [illegible].

Thursday 16th April 1942

Don on HG duty. Stopped in all evening. Mum & Hilda went to the Forum. Dad also went on Home Guard.

Wednesday 1st April 1942

Hilda still ill with gastric flu. Don came over early & we went to see Ida. Full moon & a glorious night.

Saturday 28th March 1942

Don not been to work. Went to the doctors in the morning & to the Hospital to see his uncle in the afternoon. We went to the pictures in the evening. Hilda got a bilious attack again.

Tuesday 10th March 1942

Win got her release from GPO to join forces. Don came over in evening. Went to the station for Hilda's new pass.

Tuesday 17th February 1942

Hilda's 16th Birthday. Did not buy anything but gave her the money instead. Mum & dad took her to the Forum. Don came over in the pm.

Monday 9th February 1942

Hilda starts work again. Finished Cooper's jumper. Don came over in the evening but did not stay late.

Friday 6th February 1942

Slippery morning. Did nothing special. Was going to Chelsea Palace, but Hilda didn't want to go at the last minute.

Tuesday 3rd February 1942

More snow falling. Hilda on sick leave. Went over to Don's in the evening. Quite happy over there. Don caught his late bus.

Sunday 1st February 1942

Sid came home this morning. Came up about eleven. Hilda in bed not so good. Don came over in the afternoon. On Fire Watch in the evening.

Saturday 31st January 1942

Hilda did not go to work. Don came over in the afternoon. We went to the pictures in the evening. Got some more very nice wool.

Friday 30th January 1942

Got another Savings certificate. Don came over in the evening. Hilda not feeling so good. Went to bed as soon as she got in.

Wednesday 28th January 1942

Don & Hilda went out in the afternoon. Dad bathed Don's arm & nearly made him pass out so Don stopped all night.
