Wednesday 17th June 1942

Hilda was supposed to meet Don's lad Harry, but he couldn't turn up. Don & I went for a walk & a drink.

Monday 8th June 1942

Sunny but chilly. Don came over straight from work. Freddie Barnard came up. Going [illegible] Ireland. Went for a drink. Got to bed very late.

Saturday 6th June 1942

Very hot again. Went over to Don's. Cut the privet & then went for a drink.

Wednesday 27th May 1942

My 20th Birthday. Don had ½ day & got tickets for "Happidrome". Very good show except for Hutch. Went out for a drink with Mum afterwards.

Sunday 24th May 1942

Did nothing very special as the weather is so bad. Played billiards cards & draughts then went for a drink.

Friday 15th May 1942

Up early. Met Fred & saw Reap the Wild Wind". The best film I’ve seen for ages. Went to Princes & had a couple of drinks.

Friday 8th May 1942

Don came over in the p.m. Hilda Don & I went out for a spree. Went to the Sussex, then Daly’s then to the new pub we found. Had a lovely time.

Friday 24th April 1942

Don came over tonight. Went for a walk & had a drink in the Nelson. Quite a good evening.

Saturday 18th April 1942

Don came over in the afternoon. Mum Dad Don & I went to see old Mother Ridley. Don & I went out half time for a drink & didn't go back. Didn't think that much of what we saw.

Friday 17th April 1942

Don came over later in the evening. Mum Don & I went out for a drink. Don went on the last bus.

Sunday 12th April 1942

Don came over in the pm but would not stop to dinner. Came back in a [illegible] but I did not go on Fire Watch in pm. We all went out for a drink.

Saturday 11th April 1942

Registered this am. Didn't ask any questions except date of birth & job. Went over to Don's. Left it too late to go out so just had a drink.

Friday 3rd April 1942

Don's 20th Birthday. Worked all day. Gave Don his ring. Went for a drink at Putney. Felt quite sleepy on one 1/2 pint & a cigarette.

Saturday 21st March 1942

Had 1/2 day. Went & got Don's ring. Came over in the afternoon & we went to the New Vic in the evening.

Saturday 28th February 1942

Met Don at lunchtime. He carried on work & I went shopping. Bought sheets, pillow cases, towels & tea cloths. Don very pleased. Went for a drink in the evening.

Saturday 14th February 1942

Went out & bought a new hat & coat. Not one coupon left. Don & I went out for a drink in evening.

Thursday 12th February 1942

Feel very tired. Saw Fred in the evening. Went to the Metropole. Saw "The Chocolate Soldier". Very good. Went & had a drink at Princes. Got me at 10.30.

Sunday 25th January 1942

Got up late. Went to Rose Hill & had a drink. Had late dinner & then came home. Don caught his late bus home.

Friday 26th December 1941

Finished work early. Don Beryl & I went to the Kings Arms at 1p.m. went over to Don's place. Went for a pub crawl in evening.

Wednesday 24th December 1941

Christmas Eve. Went off early. Beryl, Harry, Wynne, Fred & Don came over. All went up West for a drink. Not very successful.
