Saturday 30th May 1942

Met Fred & went to Wembley to see the London Cup Final. Portsmouth should have won. Saw "The Man Who Came to Dinner" in the pm.

Thursday 14th May 1942

On Fire Watch tonight & Don on HG. Met don in the pm for a little while. Played Table Tennis till one am Friday morning.

Friday 1st May 1942

Went to get the ½ dinner service we saw Monday but the shop was shut. Went back to work & played TT. Saw Don later in the evening.

Wednesday 22nd April 1942

Fire Watch this evening Played Table Tennis most of the evening with Wynne, Mr Walker & Mr Dix. Mouse kept us awake most of night.

Monday 13th April 1942

Played Table Tennis for Shepherd's Bush. Got home at 9.30 pm. Don been there since 8.30 pm. Don't feel so good.

Thursday 2nd April 1942

Lovely morning. On Fire Watch. Played Table Tennis all evening. Went to bed very late. Main Water Pipe burst outside. Made a nice mess.

Monday 30th March 1942

Lovely morning. Played Table Tennis against Twickenham GRP Girls. Just wiped them out. Don came over in the evening. Not looking well.

Lovely morning. Did nothing very important. On Fire Watch this evening. Played Table Tennis until gone twelve.

Thursday 19th March 1942

Played TT for warships week. Had Challinor for partner so did not do so good. Don came over later in the evening.

Friday 13th March 1942

On Fire Watch myself this evening. Amy left to go on a VAD at Plymouth. Played Table Tennis most of the evening.

Tuesday 3rd March 1942

On Fire Watch myself tonight. Played TT myself against Emergency Control. Didn't do very good. Got to bed very late.

Monday 2nd March 1942

Played Table Tennis with Popesgrove. Got home rather late. Don on Home Guard so didn't see him.

Tuesday 24th February 1942

Worked late. Played Table Tennis in pm. With Mr Mallunder. Won 2 games drew on one & lost another. Don came very late in the evening. Almost finished my companion set. Looks lovely.

Monday 16th February 1942

Played Table Tennis & Danced with the Canadians in the pm. Got home very late so did not stay up long.

On Fire Watch this evening. Played mixed doubles for Shep Bush but not very well.

Cold morning. Played Table Tennis in the evening. Miss Jackson & I won our 3 doubles but only won 2 games out 6 with Mr. Linsell.

Very cold morning feel very tired. On Fire Watch tonight. Played table tennis in evening, but did not go to bed late.

Saturday 17th January 1942

Going to Wembley. Bit cold. Met Fred. Quite a lively crowd at the Match. England one 3-0 Scotland didn't seem to play at all. Went up West & saw the films at the Carlton. Saw "World Premiere" & "Among the Living". Quite good films. One funny & the other creepy.

Monday 17th November 1941

Don on H.G. Played table tennis against M of L. Cyril & I didn't do too bad.

On this day... Joseph Grew, the United States ambassador to Japan, cables the State Department that Japan had plans to launch an attack against Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. His cable was ignored.

Very wet morning. Did well with our Russian Jumble Sale at work. Played Table Tennis all evening.
